Drug Me Up
Right now I’m waiting in the Albertson’s parking lot for a prescription to be filled. For me. That’s right… I’m going to take medicine. The doc gave me the all-clear on the condition of my lungs and heart (the main reason I just wanted to check with a medical professional), and said my nervous energy was mostly to blame… on top of my allergies, of course. A main effect of this medicine is that it will help to physically “calm me down”… which, if you know me, is a key thing.
I’m a bundle of nerves and tense muscles: sometimes from emotion, sometimes from allergies, and sometimes I just am. That X factor is what I inherited from my dad.
I may be pretty drowsy as my body first adapts to this drug, so you might be able to get some pretty interesting conversations out of me
.
In other words… I may be a little high while I test this stuff out. Freaking drugs, man.
If Than, Then
It’s interesting how our minds work. I value grammar and spelling, and do my best to correct myself when I falter with either one. I use “affect” and “effect” properly, and while nobody is perfect, it’s kind of funny to discover that we’ve been doing something incorrectly… especially when it’s a learned trait.
I have a friend who regularly used the non-word “irregardless”, and from their influence it entered my verbal lexicon… even though I had previously known it to be incorrect (the actual meaning being “not regardless”). That is a big part of why I do my best to speak correctly – so as to not lead others astray.
In light of this, I have an apology to make. For some unknown reason, I had it in my head that the phrase should be “if than” instead of “if then”. Where it came from, I haven’t a clue and as someone who knows a small bit about programming, I should have registered my error when thinking about if-then statements, but I didn’t. So, for however long I’ve been misusing those words, I’m sorry.
But, really, why didn’t any of you boneheads tell me??
In L.A.
Out& About is a new category that is exactly that.. it’s for little notes I have when I’m not at home. How? Magic! Also, I have a cellular phone.
I’m up in Los Angeles county RIGHT AS I TYPE THESE WORDS. First I swung by Actorfest (eh), and now I’m hanging out with Korkie Bullard after a very long time of having not. This isn’t an amazing post.. but I just wanted you to know that it is now possible
