140,000
Tuesday night, when I got home from class I noticed that my car had passed a milestone – 140,000 miles. Now, you might be wondering why this particular number means something. Isn’t it supposed to be the major numbers, such as 100,000 or 150,000 that mark an important occasion? Well, as with most things, this is more personal.
A couple of years ago, I missed my car’s rollover to 100,000 miles. I was driving to audition at an acting program, and I missed my off ramp. In the distraction, the next time I eyeballed my odometer it read a disappointing 100,003 miles. I wasn’t too let down by it all, though. Sure it’s a big moment for my car, but I didn’t buy it brand new. I bought it with mileage already on it… 40,000 miles, to be exact. So, if you’ve been paying attention, that is why Tuesday’s crossing of 140,000 miles was so important to me. I have now personally spent 100,000 miles with friends, girls, my dog, going to Westmont College, driving along PCH, and everything else I’ve done since I bought my first car.
The irony of it all is… I was coming home from a night class, and even though I now have my camera with me – using a camera flash, in the middle of the freeway, in the dark of night didn’t seem like a very smart idea for anyone. Oh well, there’s always 240,000
.

happy birthday to your lil' lady. what have you named her?
Thank you. When I was younger, I thought of trying to name it, but that never happened. As with most things, I'm a simple man, so now I just refer to her as "Car." Sort of how I would also often call Katie "Dog."
